Core Beliefs

THE BIBLE | The Lord desires us to love Him extravagantly. He has revealed Himself to us through the Bible so that we can walk with Him intimately. The story of the Bible reveals who He is and who we are and what it looks like to become the community that He is living through.

We believe that the 66 books of the Bible are the authoritative word of God, infallible and inerrant. It is God’s revelation to us about who He is, what He is like, and what He has done, is doing, and will do throughout history. It directs all we do in faith and practice and is central to our understanding of life. It is the final authority in all we do and for the life of our church. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit, written by man, and proves true in all that it affirms in practice and in history. Matthew 5:18, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21, John 1:1-18

GOD | The Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the most marvelous relationship that has ever existed. They are love and life. Their extravagant love is what governs everything about Them and everything They do.

We believe in a Trinitarian God. We believe that God is three persons in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three persons have always existed in perfect relationship with one another and always will. They are each Co- Equal and Co-Eternal in their divinity, yet they are each separate in person. They are submissive in role only and each person is to be worshipped as God. The Spirit reveals to us the Son, the Son glorifies the Father, and it is the Father Whose will it is for us to know Him and His Son, and Who desires the Spirit to dwell in us and among us. 1 John 4:8

THE FATHER | He is the sovereign Creator of all things. It is by His will and design that all things exist and are held together. He created everything out of nothing. Everything is made for His glory and for His glory alone. It was by His grace and His own desire that He sent the Son to make payment for our sins, providing the way into a restored relationship with Him. It has always been His desire that we might know Him and live in relationship with Him. He created man to live in this relationship with Him. He is Love. By Him we define what Love is. Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19-20, John 4:24

JESUS | We believe Jesus was the son of God, fully man and fully God. He is the firstborn over all creation. By Him and through Him all things were created and are sustained by His word. He is the physical revelation of God to us, the visible image of an invisible God. He came supernaturally conceived by the spirit, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived before creation with the Father and lives now in physical form, reigning at the right hand of the Father over all kingdoms, rulers and authorities. His name is above all names and is to be loved, worshipped, and adored. Matthew 1:23-25, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 3:16, Romans 3:23-25; Acts 2:24- 27, Acts 9:1-11, Hebrews 4:15, John 5:24, Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 1:25, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12- 14, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:18, James 3:9

THE HOLY SPIRIT | We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Fully God He is worshipped and adored as God. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and reveals to us the Person and work of the Son, Jesus Christ. He is a person and, therefore, has volition, emotion, and intellect. He guides, leads, directs, and teaches the believer in all things. He knows all things, and there is nothing hidden from His sight. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that a believer is even able to live the life Jesus calls us to live. He is the seal and the guarantee of our salvation and sonship of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit fills us fully, yet His influence in our lives can be hindered by sin. He never leaves us as a result of sin, but He desires us to yield ourselves to His power and His influence. Matthew 28:19, John 3:3-7, 1 Corinthians 2:12, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30

THEIR MISSION | The Father, Son and Holy Spirit entered the brokenness of this world in order to restore all of creation into their intended beauty and purpose. Through the life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, He has forgiven us and destroyed and dismantled the power of sin over our lives. As we trust Him and submit our lives to Him, He transforms our lives as His image bearers. Genesis 1:1-31, Ephesians 1:1-23, Romans 5:1-21

SALVATION | We believe in the forgiveness of sins by faith alone, through grace alone, and through Jesus alone.  He proved to us His victory over sin and death by His many signs and wonders, His physical death by crucifixion, His physical burial in a tomb for three days, and His physical resurrection from the dead. Jesus is the only mediator between God and man and will return one day as Lord to fully establish His kingdom and to usher in a New Heaven and a New Earth where believers will reign and live with Him for all eternity. Acts 4:12, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8-9

THE CHURCH | Jesus ascended in order to empower His church to help restore this broken world. They are living their mission through our surrendered lives and community.

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, the hope of the world. The one true Church is composed of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Wherever God’s people meet regularly, there is the local expression of the church. Under the watchful care of elders and other supportive leaders, its members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of bringing glory to God. Scripture commands all believers to be an active part of a local church body, devoting themselves to worship, prayer, and the teaching of God’s Word. Participation in a local body also includes the observance of believer’s baptism and communion as the sacramental ordinances established by Jesus Christ, fellowship, service to the body, and outreach to the world, thereby glorifying Christ and furthering His purposes.
