Biblical hope is a deep-seeded optimism and confidence in God's character and sovereignty even when we have no idea what He's up to. Daniel stood firm in three types of hope: Present, Future, & Shared.

Present Hope
"those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Despite Daniel's numerous trials, he stood firm in his present hope. God demonstrated to Daniel that He is the one who is in control of those who are in control. What is the source of your hope and confidence during trials? Have there been season's in in your life where your confidence was more in the world or yourself rather than in God? How did God refocus you on His presence and everlasting hope?

Future Hope
"and you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days" Daniel 12:13 ESV

Even though Daniel received visions of a great tribulation, he stood firm in a future hope; a hope and confidence that in the end, God wins! The story of God's people does not end in suffering or death, but in deliverance, rest, and everlasting life! All the warnings of God's wrath are rooted in God's love. If He did not love us, He would not warn us. 1 Peter 1:3b states "in his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"  In the uncertainty of our current world, how does your hope in God sustain you? In what specific ways has God demonstrated His faithfulness in the past? How does God's past faithfulness provide hope for our future?

Shared Hope
"and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever." Daniel 12:3 ESV

In a world full of fear and chaos, we are called to help others find the God who gives hope. Hope is a person and His name is Jesus. How has your hope in Jesus compelled you to share His hope and love with others? How is God calling you to share your hope?

Heavenly Father,
Your faithfulness is amazing. Everyone who calls on your Name will be saved. Please give us courage, strength, and boldness to share the love and hope found in You and Your Son Jesus.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
