Follow Along with the Message

1. We read in Jonah 4:5-8 that Jonah is sitting in anger, upset that his entitlements have been taken away from him. Entitlement could be defined as the thought that I have a unique space in life where the rules don't apply to me. Are there hidden entitlements in your own heart?

2. Resentments and regrets are stepping stones that lead to entitlement. What resentments or regrets are you holding that are leading you to a heart posture of entitlement?

3. Jonah attempted to run away from God but soon realized that no matter where he went, he could not escape God. You cannot desire God's love and presence and run in the opposite direction at the same time. You must be willing to carry out the calling God puts on your life. What has God spoken to you that you are running from?

4. Ephesians 2:10 states, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Have there been times in past seasons when you stepped past or ran away from the good works God has prepared for you? What is the mission God is calling you to presently?

5. Jonah reached the city Nineveh, a city of 120,000 people, with possibly the worst sermon ever. God is calling on your faithfulness, not your effectiveness. When we are on mission and in unison with God's plans, we are operating in the very definition of effectiveness. Are you on mission or are you stuck?
