Follow Along with the Message

Sermon: David & Goliath
Speaker: Phil Carnuccio
Date: 6/30/24

Key Scripture: 1 Samuel 16

1. Take a moment to read through Psalm 23 and ask God to prepare your heart and mind for what he has to teach you as you review Sunday's message.

2. Why is it important to consecrate ourselves, especially in the midst of a time of "spinning" as Samuel was experiencing? (Remember Samuel was experiencing both sadness for the end of Saul's reign and fear about Saul's response.)

3. How do we engage in consecration? What are the spiritual components of consecration?

4. How is the way of Jesus radically different than the way of the world?

5. Pastor Phil stated: "It is the tension of struggle that strengthens us." Reflect on a time when a tension in your life strengthened you or how a current tension is shaping you.

6. In light of 1 Samuel 16:7 why is Exploring the Iceberg a practice that we should engage in?

7. Pastor Phil questioned how David could demonstrate such emotional maturity and suggested that as a shepherd David experienced spaciousness that stabilized his soul. How can you create spaciousness in your life to help you be with God?
