Make Room for Peace | Advent | 12.21.25

Series: Advent 2025

Luke 1:26-38, Isaiah 57

Search my heart, O God. Help me to hear your voice. I welcome you. Bring us back to your word.

Observe: Read Luke 1:26-38 and talk about the culture in the days of King Herod. What emotions do you observe in this passage, and why do you think that Mary had room for peace in light of life-changing news?

Reflect: “We often want full understanding of a thing to feel prepared for what we must do, but too much information can often increase anxiety. Mystery can carve out a space for peace, if we remember who is with us in the middle of it.” Read Isaiah 57:15-19. How can these verses help your understanding of His presence with you? What confidence does this give you in knowing that He is with you?

Confess: What area(s) of your life do you crave control the most? Maybe there is something that you have offered up to the Lord but have not fully relinquished it. Confess where you are struggling with total surrender. How could giving up control of an agenda or expectation make room for you to experience His peace?

Pray: Lord, search my heart and reveal to me where I need to make room for your presence and your peace.
