Missions Sunday

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 NIV

1. Layelle shared her testimony, specifically about her feeling abandoned by Got not once, but twice. Have there been times in your walk when you've felt abandoned? How did you respond and how did God work through that?

2. Layelle shared a quote from Tim Keller "Sin isn't only doing bad things; it's more fundamentally making good things into ultimate things. Sin is building your life and meaning on anything, even a very good thing, more than on God. Whatever we build our life on will drive us and enslave us. Sin is primarily idolatry." Are there good things in your life that have become more important to you than God?

3. Layelle's story described how trauma had led her down a path of resentment for God. How does Layelle's story help our own hearts be more understanding and filled with compassion when we witness to others who may also have resentment due to their past?

4. Mike shared that typically, leaders in the secular world mistakenly focus on business growth alone which can lead them to view employees as a "means to an end" and not as individual people. Do you view your employees as your mission field? Do you feel that your role is to serve them? Do you have a tool that allows for you to receive feedback? (Mike suggested the following book: John C. Maxwell High Road Leadership)

5. Angela spoke to us about how God uses our passions to focus our mission field. What gifts has God blessed you with? How can you use them for His Kingdom work?
Angela also shared that for parents, children are their most important mission field. Why is it so vital for parents to consider their children their most important work?

6. Glenn and Susie shared several examples of being surrendered to the Lord's will and also using their passions in their everyday lives for the glory of God. Part of how the Lord is currently using both Glenn and Susie is by leading them into a new mission field at Prov North. Do you feel God calling you right now to use what He has given you?

7. Noah talked about his testimony of obediently sharing the Gospel in the workplace as well as through social media. He mentioned that it's not about us at all, but all about Jesus. Is there a step of boldness, obedience and faith that you feel God is currently calling you to? What makes that hard right now?

8. We were able to hear from Dan Blessing from Prague through a video message. In this message, he spoke about God shifting his values from a worldly perspective of pursuing comfortability and contentment through financial success, to pursuing God's calling for his life. How does Dan's story inspire you?
