Colossians 1:17 reminds us that Jesus is before all things and in Him, all things hold together. Jesus reigns supreme over all creation.

In what areas of your life have you possibly reduced the supremacy of Jesus?

How can these areas be surrendered to Jesus, in acceptance of His supremacy?

Colossians 1:23 says “if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.”

What are some practical ways to establish your faithfulness and your steadfastness in order to walk under the preeminence of Jesus?

Colossians 1:28 says: “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”

As a group, discuss:

How have you been discipled in the past?

•Who are you currently disciplining?

or

•Who is someone that comes to mind that may need discipling?

Paul writes “For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬.

Paul is toiling for our maturity in Christ which comes from the strength of the Lord in us. If we depend on our own energy, we will not sustain it or stand firm. Spiritual maturity does not come apart from God’s Spirit. We must stand firm in the wisdom and power of God’s Spirit working in us, allowing His power and love to bring us to spiritual maturity.

How do you hope and pray that the Lord will bring you further into spiritual maturity in the coming year?

Where and how has God moved or worked in your faith journey in the past year?
