Making Christ Preeminent
Anchor verses: Colossians 1:17-20
Supporting verses: 1 Tim. 4:12; Matthew 6:33; Romans 5:8; Eph.3:16-19; Exodus 32:3-4

1. When you have free time or travel, who do you love to spend time with? Why?

2. 1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an
example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” How did Cate,
Nate, and Bennett’s messages encourage, inspire, or challenge you?

3. Bennett encouraged us to keep God preeminent in every aspect of our lives—not to pick and
choose where we want and don’t want God involved. In your day-to-day, where do you
readily invite God in? Where do you shut Him out (intentionally…or unintentionally)? In what
simple and practical ways can/do you bring Jesus with you in every moment and every facet
of your day?

4. Cate shared that “comfort had become preeminent” in her life as she realized she loved
those who were easy to love and avoided loving “risky people.” And yet, "God shows his love
for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom 5:8) In what areas/aspects
of your life has comfort become the main thing? Viewed through the lens of Romans 5:8,
what might God be saying to you?

5. Nate said we make Jesus supreme by giving him the wheel over EVERYTHING. God takes
our submission and does things we would never think were possible. Why then do we
continually turn our backs on God and take control for ourselves, like the Israelites? Where
have you exchanged your treasures (e.g. time, heart, relationships, money, talents) in
exchange for a golden calf?

6. Take a moment and ponder Christ’s preeminence in your life…what would it look like if you
invited Jesus into every aspect of your life, loved risky people, and gave up control to let
Jesus take the wheel. Draw a picture of what this looks like to you.
