Follow Along with the Message

1. Share some examples from past weeks about some of the “upside down” teachings of Jesus.

 2. Read this passage together with your group:

Mark 10:13-16

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.”

3. Share a time when you have seen a child respond to something surprising with awe and wonder. How does that connect to the last verse where Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

4. Read Mark 18:10 & Mark 9:36-37- How does Jesus look at children? How does our modern-day society see children? Same? Different?

5. Stats tell us that kids are leaving the church once they leave the home in greater numbers than ever before. Do you know what the number one thing is that prevents that from happening? Serving in the church. How can we encourage the adults and kids at Prov to serve? Why don’t more adults and high school kids want to serve in the children’s ministry?

6. What does it mean to have childlike faith?
Shelley’s answer: Childlike faith is: Dependent, Simple, Audacious. Which one of these do you to pray about increasing for you?
