1.) Have you experienced a time in a relationship where you wondered if it was worth it? Did you overcome it? How did your faith support you in this circumstance?

2.) (Ephesians 5: 31-33) The union between a husband and wife merges them together into one flesh in such a way that when something happens to one it will affect the other. This does not mean that you forget about who you are as an individual, but that you are living out a sacrificial love to your spouse. What happens to them will affect you when you are submitted into your marriage. What are one or two ways that you can demonstrate the sacrificial love of Jesus in your marriage? How does this sacrificial love reveal itself to your children?

3.) Open your Bibles to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. Now open your Bibles to 1 John 4: 8 and read this verse. Now go back to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 and replace the word “love” with “God.” How does God demonstrate these attributes to you and how can you then extend this in your relationship?

4.) Throughout history, marriage has been greatly undervalued by the world’s viewpoint. But Jesus places great value in marriage, and in Mark 10: 9 says: “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” What is preventing you from bringing your marriage to Jesus and allowing him to do the hard work of changing your heart?

5.) Less than one percent of married couples who pray together end their marriage in divorce. Is this an area that you feel that you could improve upon with your spouse or significant other?

6.) Mark 10:8 “and the two will become one flesh so they are no longer two, but one flesh.” Pastor Phil mentioned four areas of intentionally growing in “One Fleshness.”

  • -Spiritually
  • -Mentally
  • -Emotionally
  • -Physically (intimacy)

What are some intentional applications you can use to grow in each area?
