1. Read Mark 1:40-45. What does it tell you about Jesus’ character that he was willing to physically touch a man with leprosy despite the physical risk and ritual impurity? 

1. Even if we cannot miraculously heal others as Jesus could, what can we do in reality to be more like Jesus to people in a similar outcast status as this leper? 

2. Why did Jesus command the leper to avoid telling anyone about the healing? Why did he disobey? 

2. What are some ‘incorrect’ ways we often try to help grieving individuals?

3. Is the story of Job comforting or concerning to you? 

1. Are you troubled by the fact that God often does not offer clear explanations for the trials we face in life? 

4. Are you willing to “wrestle” with God about your trials as Jacob/Israel did? What does this look like in practice?
