Kingdom
Series: The Ripple Effect
Sermon notes:
What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. –Tozer
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:1-7 ESV
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV

Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.
Matthew 3:1-2 NIV
"All of the despair and selfishness that leads to suicide.
All of the perversion and obsession that leads to sexual assault.
All of the powerless and desperation that leads to terrorism.
All of the pride and power that leads to domination and slavery.
Christ takes it all up into himself on the cross.
He felt it all, endured it all, absorbed it and transformed it through self-giving, radically-forgiving, co-suffering love.
He doesn’t watch and do nothing: he endures and transforms and he will have the last word!"
Brad Jursak: A More Christlike God
Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”
Matthew 11:4-5 NIV
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away...
Revelation 21:1 NIV
So what happens between already and not yet?
How does the kingdom spread ?
The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20-21)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 ESV
Move from mere belief in Jesus to seeking and yielding to His kingdom FIRST
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10 ESV
What’s your first move?
Sermon Reflection
provided by ProvWriters
Amidst the fierce fitfulness of humanity,
Caged in collapse, calamity and depravity,
Unto us a baby is born.
As misconceptions bred perceived reality,
And pride seeped in the wandering of the worldly,
Yet unto us a baby is born.
Trumpets sounding the revelation of a kingship,
Amongst the invasion of an aphotic kinship
Still unto us a child is born.
How the cosmos sighed and stars aligned,
Caught in the tension of the already and yet to be,
See unto us a Messiah has come.
Here as in Heaven and Crown proclaimed,
As victory came and victory reigned,
For unto us a Messiah has won.
Kingdom announced –
Kingdom came –
Kingdom fulfilled –
Through the self giving, radically forgiving, and co-suffering love
Unto us a Kingdom was, and is, and is to come.
Seek ye the Kingdom.
