1. As you look into your own life currently, do you identify with Jonathan - who was ready to lay his life down because he was so obedient to YHWH - or with Saul - who let outside culture and ideologies influence his thinking and decisionmaking rather than keeping YHWH on the throne?

 

2. While we don’t know if Michal was acting in faith to YHWH or using an idol as her means of protection, we know that her heart was divided. Our lives reflect our allegiance to people and things.

 

What are you distracting yourself with instead of being wholly focused on YHWH?

 

3. Many of us put good things on the throne to share with YHWH; being a great husband, being a great father, being an employee with integrity and humility. These are all things we should strive for...but the only way we become a godly parent, or a godly spouse, or boss or employee, or anything is by keeping our eyes focused on the One who gave us those aspirations and callings - not the calling itself.”

 

What good thing are you making an ultimate thing by putting it on YHWH’s throne? How can you keep your eyes focused on the One who called you - not the calling itself?
